My Journey to Creative Liberation…
It all started with me reading the masterful book “The Artist's Way” by Julia Cameron. Her workbook essentially heals the blocked artist from their barriers. Throughout my process of reading her book, my mind was completely blown by how creative I could be! Fearlessly, I began to explore my creativity in ways that I hadn't done since childhood… AND my favorite creative endeavors became stronger!
The universe works in a funny way… shortly after reading her book, I went to my first “burn” (for those of you who don’t know, a “burn” is similar to a festival but is entirely created by the participants. I consider it an artists gathering. The catch? We’re ALL the artists). I could not believe my eyes.
For the first time in my life I entered a space of limitless creativity.
Everyone was sharing their art (all modalities) and encouraging one another in ways I had never seen. The concept of “art is competition” did not exist. Art was radical self-expression and uplifting. The goal was simply to create. The way art is supposed to be!
Ever since then, my creativity has continued to expand. The best part? Just like the art I saw at the burn, my art has become increasingly more powerful as I have let go of my doubt, self-limiting beliefs, fear of judgment, and most of all EXPECTATION.
Creativity is all about your mindset. We can all be creative. In fact, we already ARE creative (some of us just use it more).
Creative liberation is the path to breaking free from the obstacles that prevent the true expression of our creativity.
